About the Author

Kirsty Horsey, Senior Lecturer in Law, Kent Law School, University of Kent,Erika Rackley, Professor of Law, Law School, Durham University

Kirsty Horsey is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Kent Law School, teaching contract and tort law to undergraduate students across all years. Her research interests lie in the overlap of medical and family law, particularly in the area of assisted reproduction, and in public bodies' liability for negligence. In 2007, Kirsty was the joint recipient of the Barbara Morris Learning Support Prize, awarded by the University of Kent for teaching excellence.

Erika Rackley is a Professor of Law in the Law School at Durham University. She has taught tort law at Kent, Leicester and Durham Universities. Her research interests are broadly in the field of feminism, gender and law, particularly in relation to judicial diversity. She is co-editor of 'Feminist Perspectives on Tort Law' (Routledge, 2012).

Newspaper Design Handbook 5th Edition----An Effective and Well Presented Handbook on the Subject!

Simple, clear, concise, and accurate presentation of the elements of newspaper design. Concepts are well defined. Author is a clear communicator and his writing style augments the value of the information he is presenting. There are ample visual designs presented in is book and elements of typology, template formatting, page design, font sizing, and visual organization are especially useful for beginners in newspaper design. Question and answer quizes reinforce the concepts in the material. Have no doubt, author Tim Harrower is an excellent writer and he presents key concepts with verbal and visual support. This book is especially good for beginning visual media design related to creating newspapers. It is something that both journalism and visual media teachers can use for their beginning students in highschool and junior college classroom situations. A big plus for this Newspaper Designer Handbook. Beginning issues present in this handbook can be applied to later visual media design and may prove useful in understanding beginning concepts in InDesign software by Adobe.

I stumbled onto a YouTube video from a high school newspaper sponsor saying that this is required reading. I bought it. It far exceeds my greatest hopes. The content is complete. The information is clear. It is concise. It is precise.

Buy one of these, download a copy of Scribus and get going. Whether you are working on an existing school, college or community paper, or want to start your own niche newspaper; this book is every bit as essential as a printing press. BTW, consider [...] if you're starting something of your own. They just might be everything you need.

Some good tricks, but this book is outdated (and expensive).

That this book is outdated should come as no surprise to anyone, really. The newspaper industry is dying and needs some new ideas; this book just shows how it's always been done. This book is a good primer for someone new to the industry so they can see an overview for how newspapers have worked in the past and teaches a few tricks about headlines and art placement, but he still talks about paper dummies, xacto knives and film. So not cutting edge, but maybe worth a peak if you're in the industry and can find it for less than the $90 or so investment it's asking for.

Recently, my husband suggested that I find a book that will help me become more focused. I have so many good ideas that I often loose focus when putting them in action. My peers are living their dreams and achieving great things. I am happy for others and their accomplishments but at times I feel inadequate. I know it is possible for me to pursue my dreams but sometimes life has a way of undermining them. I read Redirect 101: Back On Track Today to rekindle my hope in myself, my dreams and to ultimately learn how to focus.

This book is an eye opener in several aspects. For one, the title immediately grabbed my attention. I know my potential but I just need to redirect my thinking to get back on track. I realize that I need to recover faster after a stumble or even a fall. The author offers many actionable and yet practical tips on how to stay the course keeping the goal in front at all times. What resonated with me the most is when she wrote about setting SMART goals. This is what I really needed to ensure I am doing what I need to do to stay focused. Although I am more of a pen to paper type person, I did download a couple of apps she suggested in the book.

Granted, we all get off course at some point in our lives. Reading this book is to your soul and spirit what going to the gym is like for your muscle... a must. Redirect 101 is an outstanding book that I would recommend for anyone to read.

This book provides some simple advice on setting goals. It offers quite a few iphone and android apps to use along your journey as you hit goals, relax, release stress and embrace the small stuff while keeping a positive attitude. It's an easy and light read.

Simple Easy Steps to Getting Back on Track in Life

If like me you’ve been feeling off-kilter recently and know you need to get back on track then this book is probably right for you. Personally, I know where I want to be in life – what I want to achieve – but have been struggling to focus on this and was looking for help in finding the best path.

I liked this book for a number of reasons. As it explains in the title, Redirect 101 is aimed at getting you back on track with simple, actionable steps. It offers practical advice from staying healthy to embracing the moment.

The book is an interesting combination of succinct guidance, inspiring quotes, and simple action points and exercises; but the most important aspect that sets it apart from other self-help books I’ve read is that it includes suggestions of technology you can utilize. We all rely heavily on our phones and tablets so this book has brought success coaching right up-to-date with apps and online tools that can help you in achieving your goals.

I think my favorite chapter is the one entitled ‘Comparison: the Thief of Joy’. It’s easy to forget your own uniqueness and compare yourself to those around you; this is a reminder to focus on the things we do that are great and differentiate us from others. That’s something I’ve forgotten in recent years.

This is not a long book and you could probably complete it in one sitting, but I recommend you take the time to do all the exercises at the end of the chapters as well as check out the apps and tools you think would be most useful to you. Everything in the book is simple to do and will really help put your goals in perspective and re-focus your mind.

Great reference for all levels

This is another in-depth reference text full of detailed information on bees as crop pollinators. My favorite things about this book are the step-by-step instructions on rearing bumble bees (it also includes some management information on other native bees), and details about pollination requirements for a long list of crops. A must-have if your work involves bees and crop interactions!

Outstanding History of Monetary Policy of Crucial 1940-75 Era

This is an incredibly valuable and brilliant history of monetary policy. Written in 1977, but as a history it isn't dated at all. Written from a Marxian perspective, but focuses on political rather than on class dynamics; should be highly illuminating to anyone interested in monetary & financial history, Marxian or not. One of those books that makes you feel like you're "seeing the Matrix." If you can find a copy, buy it.
