I needed some assistance with my patho. These cards were great. Many of the subjects covered on here were on my NClex exam.
Great product. Gives the disease process along with signs and symptoms. Then provides what information such as labs, weight, vitals should be monitored.

I think the content is very helpful. Lots of good information.

Only suggestion...my storage box the cards came in was smashed on one end. I was able to tape it up so it will hold the cards now. I would suggest shipping in a box instead of a padded envelope. Other then that they are great, and the seller had them to me in no time. Very fast delivery.

Love these. One thing

Love these. One thing... If you are a medical or np student, these cards are way below the level that you will need to understand patho. They are fun and easy, and will help as a refresher before an exam. But be warned, you will need flash cards geared to med students, not nurses, if you want to actually learn something from them. These are great for nursing students studying for exams I'm sure. Undergraduate level.

Hi Guys. Just to make it clear, this is the second edition of Options Plain and Simple, which has been a classic for many years. This edition is easier to get through because I have substituted decimals for fractions. Also, I have added market stories, for two reasons:

1) to liven up a technical book

2) to give you real market examples of how these technicals apply.

The fundamentals in both books are identical. So if you've read OPS and you've worked in the markets, then you know it. But if you're just starting out, then FTGO is the better read-through.

This summer I lectured at BoAML. I'm advising Currency Solutions, London, on setting up an options desk. I'm working on a war stories book based on my experiences as a trader. I'm setting up a mini hedge fund.

Lenny Jordan has written an excellent book. His writing is clear and understandable and allows the reader to readily access his deep knowledge of the subject. The end of chapter questions and answers are thorough and help the reader to operationalize the concepts presented. His reference list is well considered and helps the reader to gain a deeper context of the subject. Index and glossary are thorough and useful. Overall the book is excellent and I will be on the lookout for more books from the author.

The Financial Times Guide to Options is a major overhaul of Options Plain and Simple: OPS, as most traders know, was considered to be the bible of the industry.

In FTGO I include new products and new trading ideas. All the fractions have been converted to decimals, making it much easier to get through.

But most important, I've added market scenarios: How I or my clients made or lost money: real and often big money. You will learn from our successes, and you will learn from our mistakes. You will profit from our experience.

Make money and manage risk: these were the fundamental concepts of OPS, and now they're applied to FTGO.

Lastly, this book is a user's guide, just like OPS. It's not rocket science. It is practical advice from a veteran.

The best just got better.

This is a great reference for anyone interested in Agaves. Yes, it is 1982; yes, there are no color photos. But there is more information on Agaves in this book's 670 pages than most people can imagine, including habitat and distribution, detailed descriptions, cultural uses, keys to various Agave groups, and much more. If you love Agaves (or just studying them) you need this book.

This is not for a beginner

My experience with puzzles has been limited to doing the daily crossword and sudoku about every other day or less. I use a dictionary and Google for words I don't know and give sudoku as much time as I can spare. I would categorize myself as a casual puzzle player. Out of curiosity and an interest in broadening my mind I picked this book up thinking that I could work my way through harder more challenging puzzles. The puzzles are set up on a daily schedule which is supposed to get increasingly more difficult as you go on. This was not the case. I got through day one and enjoyed the puzzles, but on day two I absolutely could not conceive of getting through the more difficult puzzles in a week let alone one day. They were just too advanced for me as someone starting out.

I would not recommend this book to someone like me who is just getting into puzzles and wants to "train their brain." This book is for a more advanced puzzle player who is looking to sharpen instead of develop their skills.

If you like different types of puzzles, try this book

My wife and I enjoy puzzles, and like crosswords, sudoku (and its many variants), brainteasers, etc. We really like the diversity of problems in this book, and some were entirely novel and fun. One example of the novel puzzles is the transition from one 4 letter word to another with only one letter changing in each step.

Several other different types of puzzles keep us challenged and entertained. I am not sure if our brains are any better for it, but we certainly have fun while trying to solve and analyze them.

Very different from other common puzzles, and the variety is a huge plus.

We let this book go out of print for a couple of years because Miriam Lee had retired and no one was actively teaching this alternative system of acupuncture. However, in the last year or so, Richard Tan has begun offering seminars on this system throughout the United States. Therefore, due to the repeated requests of Dr. Tan's many students, we decided to put this book back into print. Happily, Dr. Tan graciously consented to write a Preface for this new edition.

Tong Jing-chang was born into a family of acupuncturists in Shandong Province, China sometime near the beginning of this century. His family passed down a lineage of acupuncture purported to have originated before Qin Huang-di's burning of the books 2,200 years ago. The hallmarks of this family style are the use of a very few points per treatment, an emphasis on contralateral needling of one- sided pathologies, sophisticated five phase concepts, and a simple yet profound system of diagnosis.

Although many of the points described in this book are the same as in contemporary TCM acupuncture, they are not arranged by channels and they have different names. Many of these points are unique, extra-channel points not catalogued in current Chinese usage. These points can be extremely effective in clinical practice. Dr. Tong was regarded as one of the most famous and effective acupuncturists in Taiwan and Southeast Asia and his many students continue to keep this style alive in Taiwan.

In the 1970s, Miriam Lee, OMD, brought this style to the United States where she has gained the reputation of one of the most effective acupuncturists on the West Coast. Over the years, she has taught hundreds of acupuncturists this system. Now, for the first time, Dr. Tong's book of acupuncture is available in English supplemented by Dr. Lee's copious commentary and case histories. Acupuncturists of all styles will find this book both thought-provoking and clinically useful.

interesting traditional style

This book is now out of print which is unfortunate as Dr. Miriam Lee's clinical stories are very interesting. The material in this book, however, was not sufficient to learn how to practice Master Tung's acupuncture. Purchase Dr. Young's books which are much better clinically and do not bother spending hundreds of dollars acquiring this out of print book.

Horribly Flawed

Unfortunately, this is the best book out there on the subject. But not for long...
Master Tong's student, Yang Wei Jie is currently publishing his own book in English. He has already written many in Chinese.
Besides the errors in point location in this book, the biggest problem is that it fails to convey the system that Master Tong used to choose his points.
That's to be expected, since this is basically a translation of Master Tong's first book. Master Tong did not explain his system to his students until after that book was written.
So, if you want to learn the system by which you can choose and find and create your own points for whoever walks into your clinic, wait for another book! Either Yang Wei Jie's, or one that has yet to be written on the clinical use of the system by someone else like Dr. Robert Chu.

A Classic Franco-Belgian Comic

Professor Phillip Mortimer has an interest in Egyptology and decides to spend his vacation in Egypt with his old friend, Professor Ahmed Rassim Bey. They hope to peacefully spend their time de-cyphering ancient papyrus scripts. Unbeknownst to them, the master criminal Olrik also has an interest in the same texts. These ancient documents hold the secret of the Great Pyramid and the riches buried within it.

The Franco-Belgian tradition of comic books began during the Second World War and charted its own distinct path. Many Americans know of the Adventures of Tintin and the stories of Asterix the Gaul. The Adventures of Blake and Mortimer are right up there in the pantheon of great European comic book series. Set in the years immediately following the end of the Second World War, these adventure stories combine a 1930-40's pulp sensibility along with beautifully realized "clear line" illustrations. With their exotic locales and dastardly criminal genius', I am reminded of the Charlie Chan and Mr. Moto movies I watched as a child. "The Mystery of the Great Pyramid" is teenage adventure fiction at its very best. Highly recommended.

Finally, this classic series is out in English.

Finally, after many years after Comcat put out a couple of B&M albums, someone is putting this series out in English. I've long heard about this series, but had never read it. It's great that they have, and I plan on getting all of them.

If there is one issue I have, it's that I wish they had reprinted them in their original order. As the the 2-part "Mystery of the Great Pyramid" comes BEFORE the Yellow Mark, its a little confusing to read them out of order. And it appears the 4th book Cinebooks is putting out is actually the thirteen story, and one NOT done by EP Jacobs!!!

I'd also love to see the Jacob's "U-Ray", the prototype standalone "flash gordon"-like story that served as a loose inspiration published as well.

Almost Tom Sharpe like in its humour!

Being an ex De Beers man myself and knowing the subject matter John wrote about had me rolling around with laughter for much of the time. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Tom Sharpe style humour in an African context.

The incompetence of all nationalities makes for fun in Africa

Full disclosure: I know the author, and had an early copy to read if I would write an honest review.
Based, I suspect, on his own experiences as a diamond geologist in Africa, this story of an incompetent dictator, an incompetent diamond mining company and it's incompetent field geologists, had me laughing out loud in places. In this debut novel from J M Brook, no-one is spared the sharp pen of the author. Told from various points of view he has captured the flavor of a particular part of the African picture, and had me galloping through the pages, wanting to know what happens next. A kind of Tom Sharpe novel about searching for diamonds. Good fun.
