Merging physics and biology

Not too many years ago the sciences of physics, chemistry and biology were distinctly separate. Physics delt with atoms and smaller things that make up atoms. Chemistry dealt with the way atoms get together to form molecules, and biology dealt with those particular molecules that incorporated carbon in (usually) very large molecules.
In more recent years these sciences are flowing together. Biologists developed a need to know more about the ways atoms are made up and the physical rules that combining atoms follow. This has created a more mathematical approach to biology where computers are used to simulate biological processes.
This book reflects this merger and gives the student a basic understanding of the ground between the two sciences. Its companion CD has just about as much information as the book itself and further shows the present start of the art in mathematical modelling of life sciences.
